Hello,

For the past 5 hours I was running a targeted spider search, and when I stopped it, it had gathered more than 32,000 users. I had set it to add it to a group I had created, but when I tried to send friend requests to that group of users, it had only 300 or so users in it. What happened to all of the gathered users? Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I asked this before - does the targeted spider search work with phrases? I.E. do I need to use quotes for a phrase? Does it see a 3 word phrase as 3 separate words?

Regards,
mm

For a start you can't gather 32,000 in one go, the limit is 10,000.

Secondly it works fine with me, as long as you select/create a group.

"Does it see a 3 word phrase as 3 separate words?"

Toolman will have to answer that one.

[TOOLMAN EDIT - 3 word phrases will be treated as 1 word. Use commas inbetween each word to separate them]

I leave the "max users to gather" at the default value of 100. But, as it spiders away, the Users Gathered can easily get
above 10,000. Like I said, when I stopped it, it showed over 32,000 gathered.

I'm not sure what each of these numbers mean - and something isn't working for me.

I have selected a group, but the number of users inserted into the group is basically Zero.

Something isn't right.

Can you either upload a screenshot here or email a screen shot to support@TubeToolbox.com of your spider search settings and also let us know the URL that you start your gathering from?

We have had other people have this same problem but we are not able to duplicate it so it's been hard to fix...

Hi,

The URL that I started the spider search on is this:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0D5399E9B03BD0DB

Before I started, the "telefon tel aviv" group had 369 users in it, then after stopping the gathering process (that showed more than 4000 users gathered) the "telefon tel aviv" group still has only 369 users in it.

Here are 2 screen shots:

BTW, I have also tried it with the "do not gather users i have gathered in the past" unchecked with the exact same results.

Thank you. That is EXACTLY what I wanted. Hopefully I can replicate the issue. Just looking at the screenshot I can see several problems that all seem to be related. It's saying that you have gathered more people than examined which is impossible, it's past your gathering limit AND it gathered people that do not match your search terms. The spider search works for 99% of people but for some reason this weird error creeps up for some once in a while.

While I'm working on it, can you please let me know if your YouTube is set up to display English and also - does this happen EVERY TIME? Thanks

[Update: I put in the exact same parameters and it works fine for me. It actually gathers very very few - maybe 1 out of every 200 or 300 examined because the profile must contain every keyword that you enter ]

Yes, this happens for me every time, and yes, I have Youtube in English display mode.

Is there any way I can turn on a debug mode to log everything that would help you understand what is going wrong on my system?

Alright, I added some extra logging into the new version which will go out tonight.

After downloading the new version tonight, from the Help menu in Tube Toolbox, you will select "Log Errors", then do the spider search and it will write out tons of information. Then, go to http://www.TubeToolbox.com/LogFiles.aspx and enter your Username. It will tell you where you "Log File 2" is located. If you can copy that file and send it to us, we can take a look.

Notes:

1. You only need to run it for a few gathered users before stopping and sending us the log file. Otherwise, the file will get too big to send.
2. Does it start acting funny right away or does it take a long time? For example, after it has examined 10 people, how many out of the 10 does it say it has gathered? One thing I have never asked people is if it seems to act funny right away or if they leave it running for 10 hours and come back and it's acting funny 10 hours later

If you want to download the new version early, you can download the following 3 files and replace the files that are on your computer.

http://www.TubeToolbox.com/beta/tubetoolbox.exe
http://www.TubeToolbox.com/beta/youtubelib.dll
http://www.TubeToolbox.com/beta/slib.dll

It seems to be acting consistently from early on, until hours later. i.e. the gathered users immediately starts to grow at a faster number than the inspected users. And whether I stop in 15 minutes later or hours later, no users are added to the selected group.
