I'm on a capped bandwidth package with my ISP and have recently upped the limit from 10gb (which has been sufficient for about 2 years) to 40gb as I'm regularly going over the limit.

I left my machine running Tube Toolbox and nothing else gathering users with the spider search and found it used a massive 4gb in just 1 day.

I now know why I was going over my limits!

Is this right? I would expect it to be sending and receiving small data packets. Is it a bug?

Thanks.

Ok sorry, i had to chime in here.

So your upto 40gb a month now huh? well my friend...TTB is used to help you with your channel obviously, but 40gb a month is literally nothing! The most basic internet plan that my ISP provides is like 200-300gb's a month.

Now, TTB is scanning youtube, a flash rich site. So ya, it's not a bug, it's just how much youtube needs. Also you probably have programs running on your computer that look for updates and the like all the time.
Well not all the time, but often. Also, you do realize that uploading video's to youtube will use your bandwidth as well right? Every time i upload a video, it's at least 500mb's to 1.5gb's in size.
That means that with your bandwidth cap, i would be capped out with in a week if not a week and a half.

Now, i realize you may not upload video's as often as i do, but you have to remember TTB is a tool to help those who want to be successful on youtube. This means that the vast majority of us upload to youtube on a regular basis. Your 40gb's a month tells me that you either aren't very serious about youtube as the rest of us are, or you just simply don't upload many video's. In which case you are wasting money using TTB.

If you want to make good use of TTB, then you'll want to upload video's on a regular basis, quit being a cheap ass and upgrade your bandwidth to something large! so that you don't have to ever worry about going over your limit..which is the most retarded thing i've ever heard....maybe on your mobile device, being careful to not go over your data limit, but this is the year 2012, everyone can afford some sort of internet that doesn't have a pathetic cap of 40gb, especially if you want to go ANYWHERE on youtube.

good luck

Thanks for chipping in my friend, where are you from? It's unusual on a forum to find someone so helpful and intelligent without being condescending and rude.

Personally I would expect a search based on text to search text fields rather than flash data but what do I know? After all I'm not very serious about Youtube and I'm wasting money using Tube Toolbox.

I'm sure the developers of Tube Toolbox whole-heartedly agree with you and I will cancel my subscription at once taking my money elsewhere.

Once again, thanks for the enlightenment, you're a real breath of fresh air in a world of people who know sh!t.
